There are obvious differences between 5Cr15MoV and German steel 1.4116 in many aspects.
First of all, in terms of composition and characteristics, 5Cr15MoV is a medium-carbon stainless steel containing 5% chromium, 15% molybdenum, 0.5% carbon and a small amount of vanadium. This material has good corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and is suitable for medium-strength and wear-resistant applications such as knives, kitchen knives and scissors. 1.4116 belongs to the German standard martensitic stainless steel, containing about 15% chromium, and metal elements such as carbon, molybdenum and vanadium. Its high carbon content greatly improves the hardness of the knife, and its corrosion resistance, wear resistance and toughness are quite excellent.
Secondly, in terms of hardness, 5Cr15MoV effectively controls the harmful inclusions in steel by adding elements such as carbon, chromium, molybdenum and vanadium, so that its hardness and toughness meet international standards. The hardness of 1.4116 steel after heat treatment is about HRC58-60, and its hardness is also quite high.
In addition, the uses of the two are slightly different. 5Cr15MoV is more suitable for medium-strength applications such as knives, kitchen knives and scissors due to its moderate hardness and wear resistance. 1.4116 steel is more suitable for kitchen knives that need to be used frequently due to its excellent corrosion resistance and toughness, especially resistant to moisture, acid and other irritating chemicals.
In general, 5Cr15MoV and 1.4116 are different in composition, hardness, characteristics and uses. Which material to choose mainly depends on the specific usage needs and scenarios.
